Remember, if someone else uses your computer they will need to sign you out and sign themselves in with there own name. The links will take you in as the last name played. |

| Your Default Name |
|
Your Default name is the name that you created your yahoo games account with.
You may have, after creating your default name, created a second or third name under
your default account (see example A). In the example you will see a drop-down menu that says "playing as:", it has the name "card player". This is your default name. The Edit link above the sign-out link is the way you can add additional names under your default name, you can add up to six more names! If you click on the little button on the drop-down menu you will see the other names that you may have created. |

Now remember "card player" or whatever your main yahoo name is, that is your "default"
name, "the spades guy" is your second name, but doesn't necessarily mean it is the #2 ID. Yahoo assigns different numbers for everyone. If you need help finding out what your numbers are click here. When you get all that taking care of, go back to the game link page you want, it will not say your actual name in the drop-down menu. It will say "default". If you click on the drop-down button, it will say "name 1", "name 2",and so on. So, you need to remember the number of your favorite name if it isn't your default name. If you still can't get in or you go in as a anon, let us know! |
| Changing Your Yahoo Identity |
| Yahoo in no way makes it easy to get in under a different identity! Yahoo assigns each of your identities a number. These numbers are not always in order, they are random. Some of us are lucky enough to have them in order, some are not. For those who are not, this is what you need to do. First, go here to the real yahoo login page. When you get there, if you are using Internet Explorer, you can click "view" in the toolbar, then "source". If you are using Netscape, you can click "view" in the toolbar, then "page source". It will bring up a page of HTML source code. From here you can scroll down to you see a section that looks like this: |
| <option value="chat_pf_1" selected>default | «-------Your ID # is 1 or Default | |
| <option value="chat_pf_4">second name | «-------Your ID # is 4 | |
| <option value="chat_pf_5">third name |
«-------Your ID # is 5 | |
| <option value="chat_pf_14">forth name |
«-------Your ID # is 14 | |
| <option value="chat_pf_24">fifth name |
«-------Your ID # is 24 |
| The number after the "pf_" is your ID number for that name. Write it down or remember it. Then after you get your ID number, come back here and use the drop down menu to select the number that corresponds with you yahoo ID. Don't forget to pick a screen size also. That should do it, if you still can not get in or get in as an "anon", let me know! |
| Friend Finder Help |
| The Friend Finder can get you to your friends faster, you can also use it to return to game table after being booted. All you need to do, is to select the name of the room and type in your friends Yahoo ID or the Yahoo ID of someone that was at the table you wish to return to. |
| Question: | I can't get in or I keep getting booted, and I used to play all the time without any trouble? |
| Answer: | Yahoo recently changed there applets for the games. So what you need to do is: 1. Go to c:\windows\downloaded program files 2. In this folder you will see files for all the yahoo games that you have played. 3. Delete the yahoo files. 4. Re-enter the games as usual and your browser will automatically download the new applet. (Note: The new applet will take about 30-60 seconds to load, so be patient.) |
| Question: | I can get into all the games except for the one I want. Why? |
| Answer: | Sometimes a page can become out dated or stale in your history folder, you can fix this by: 1. If your using IE, go to "tools" in the toolbar, then "internet options", from here you can delete both your history and your temporary internet files. 2. If your using netscape, go to "edit" in the toolbar, then "preferences" from there you can delete both your history folder and history in your location bar. |
| Answer: | Also, sometimes the yahoo server is down, when they go down they can lose just a room, or a whole game, or the whole game site all together! When this happens the backdoors will not work! |
| Question: | I cant get into any games at all! Why? |
| Answer: | Yahoo and Pogo are both Java based games, which means you need to be running a Java-enabled browser. If you have updated your browser sometime within the last five years you should be OK. But even with the newest browsers they give you the option to turn off your Java, so you can download pages faster. You can check to see if your Java is enabled by going to "tools" in the toolbar, then "internet options", from here you can click on the "advanced" tab, from here you can click the "restore defaults" button, then you will have to restart your computer. |
| Question: | Why are the games so slow? |
| Answer: | Both games require an uninterrupted internet connection, which means if you listen to music over the net, download files, view other pages, or send mail while playing games, it will slow your connection. Also, sometimes the internet itself becomes so congested that your connection will slow and sometimes even stop! Nothing you can really do about it except get that DSL connection. |
| Question: | Some of these links don't work! |
| Answer: | We try very hard to maintain all the links at this site, but we occasionaly miss a few. If you come across a bad link please report it to Badlinks@alleykatzden.com. Please let us know the site, game, and room you are having trouble with. |
